Research shows that the majority of people has dealt with stress-related issues at least once in their lifetime. Stress is related to a “perceived danger” that doesn’t have to be life-threatening but it still has the power to “unsettle” us.

Have you tried meditation, yoga, or just taking a break from whatever you are doing? Are there any happy thoughts or places that can automatically change your mindset when you are under the weather? I personally have a special mantra that is doing the work for me and it is the simplest phrase ever: “This too shall pass”. Especially, if you have gone through some difficulties in life, you can appreciate the power of this phrase. Hypnotherapy, news shut up and brain games (like chess, sudoku and puzzle solving will definitely keep your mind occupied and, thus, in a better state of mind. Generally speaking, if you adopt a “creating problems into opportunities” kind of attitude, ask yourself “will this issue be equally important for me in 10 years’ time”, or just think “what would people you admire do if they were in your shoes”, I guess it will be easier to put things into their real perspective.

Did you know that moving and sweating have a huge impact on our perspective? Ever heard about endorphins? All you have to do is avoid the coach and literally be “on your toes” as much as you can. Doing sports, hitting the gym, dancing, taking the stairs or playing with the kids are fantastic ideas to channel some steam out and destress. A pair of trainers does wonders, so all you can do is see for yourself.

These are my personal favourites ! All the “guilty pleasures” that I do for “me time” and I could happily do every single day again and again. The list includes breathing breaks through the day, aromatherapy and morning/night rituals, hot baths, saunas and soothing music playlists. Not to mention massages, dark chocolate and cocoa powder delights, be close to nature as much as you can and sleep — to nap your stress away. I literally live for these moments..they can bring so much happiness in your daily life!

Family and friends have always been a “shelter” for stressful periods. Free hugs, asking for help and giving a hand when you can or counting your blessings are powerful moods changers too. Another antidote to stress is pets, laughing your heart out, singing and dancing. Basically anything that can keep you to a high level.

As you can see, there are many options to unwind from anxiety. Pick your top strategies from each category and put them in action next time.
