What is the source of true happiness?

Where does happiness come from?

For a long time that was my silent puzzle. It goes on in my head when alone with my thought.

“What brings lasting happiness?”

Initially, I thought it was in things:

Things that seem to make life pretty cool to live.

Having a golf course, a Ferrari, going on vacation …

But as I watched the lives of those who seem to have all these going, I found out I was wrong.

Happiness is not in getting what you want.

True happiness is not in getting what you want.

Yes, you want money, cars, girls, vacation, parties, drinks, …

Unfortunately, if you seek it in those things, you won’t get it.

The pleasure they give is a mirage. It doesn’t last.

It leaves the seeker poorer than before he possesses them.

There one thing I got wrong while searching for happiness.

And because I got it wrong, happiness always eludes me.

When it dawned on me, I was set free and happiness found me.

I found happiness was in growth and not in possessions.

That’s what brought the lasting joy of life to me.

Becoming a better person than you are now.

That’s where I found the happiness I once sought in things.

I found I was the source of my happiness.
