What about the robot that writes sonnets
What about the AI that scribbles a haiku
What about the alien that cannot understand
the reason his native tongue is taken out of poetry books
perhaps there is something human
that no other thing can replicate,
we have a specific suit of colors
only we can see
or, do we ebb into ourselves
and the ink spills into the shape
we expect it to be
humanity is an allegory
Crack it open
What about the aliens and the machines
writing in
tenors and binaries
you can’t delegate their narratives
how human it would be
to tell them their poetry isn’t poetry
because they aren’t human
the taste in our mouths when we say that,
it is eons of regret
xenophobia becomes something we swallow
Poetry is not human, it is precisely
universal, precise
acceleration
to decay
.
